Like two leaves blown in the wind our paths crossed after decades of distance.
I asked if she makes her life out to be better than it is.
“Yes.”
“Same.”
I asked if there were anything we could do.
“I don’t see how,” she replied with hollow eye.
I blinked. “I’m trembling right down to my core.”
“Same.”
I stared at her for I don’t know how long. Then asked why there’s nothing to be done.
“Because only the wind brought us here.”
...as we let our truths blow away.
