Threads: Call Of The Mild

Johnny Apollo – an astronaut’s name if there ever was one – read the news with horror: No applicants over 39 accepted by NASA.

He never told of his harbored hope except when young and naïve. People laughed and told him all the reasons it was impossible. Johnny believed them.

At 40 he stood forever forbidden. His disposition deteriorated as deep roots of bitterness took firm hold.

Johnny pulled out as if he never saw the oncoming truck, like with something on his mind. Death be not loud.

A time too long ago,
she dies in the depths of a well.

Who can imagine the hours and days
of her horror and hell.

Etched upon the stone
we find her final spell:

Now I lay me down to die
Leaving in final sigh
It matters not if I ask why
God did not hear my cry

Threads: Holy Spirit

'Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.'

After reading the Beatitudes I was so full of holy spirit I ran out of my $800k downtown townhouse and found Alfredo, the meekest homeless guy I know.

"Alfredo! You are blessed! One day you'll have a house too!"

But his face screwed up in anguish whereupon he proceeded to kick my shin and knee me in the stomach.

"What about NOW, motherfucker!"

Curled up on the concrete, I surmised perhaps I wasn't so full of holy spirit, after all.

Threads: Meek Sheep

Sureeling The Day

"They're coming! They're coming!"...didn't know who "they" were but we ran for our lives...wolves standing their ground were run over by meek sheep

Through painted church window I saw evil nuns spank nude virgins with encrusted crosses

Flaming faces torch the world..."Free at last! Free at last!"

Woman fixed with faraway gaze says, "I saw Jesus and asked him the secret to life."...at last! a way out of the madness..."He said: I could tell you but you'd have to kill me."

How Much Is That Ferrari In The Window?

"Dude, you be lusting after that car like it was a hot girl you can't have. Stopping every day at the dealer like a lost puppy."

"Yeah, I know."
"Even if you get one, you can't afford 5 figure upkeep on it every damn year!"

"Yeah, I know."

"Then what you wasting your time for? You got nothing to offer."

"Yeah, I know. But that doesn't change what I need."

Threads: The Russian Slob

A Future Without A Russia

Jailed citizen to be executed: “But comrade, I am innocent.”

Jailer: “Yes, I know. But I have to make quota.”

The horror was exactly like that during Stalin’s purges. Once you allow that sort of evil to seep into your DNA, it’s almost impossible to overcome.

It would be like asking the American South to become a bastion of liberal values.

So pay no heed to the number of men sacrificed to use up Ukrainian ammunition, it means nothing to them, they’re already dead.

Russian justice is a unique point of view

Threads: An Unarmed Man

The Man With Two Arms

"You idiot moron motherfucker! Ain't got brain in your head!"

"He got sense of a two shekel penny!"

"Weirdo freak anarchist. You done ruint your future!"

Such were the greetings when the man with two arms showed up in a world of one-armed men.

"Say what you will, two arms are better than one."

"Ya gotta cut one off! EVERYONE does it! It's the conservative thing to do. You saying we cut our arms off for no reason? You wanna be made fun of as a liberal?"

"Why, yes."

Threads: Looooser

Birth Of A Trump Voter

So Bitter Barry was on a tear today. Was a miracle he didn't drop a pallet way he was slinging that forklift around.

No one came within ten feet of his snarling face. I don't know what opportunity in life he missed out on. I think he dreamed of being an architect.

"If you're my idea of a dream girl then I must really be nothing." That's what he said to his last companion - ten years ago.

At the end of the day he wordlessly handed me this. I'm keeping it for posterity.

He did have one number match! I was dying to go full Ace Ventura on him yelling "Loooo-ser!" over and over.

Threads: What's In Your Head

Journalism 101:

Again, stop trying to get into people's minds as to what they believe. Their statements are only what they say.

I've seen it widely reported that some people believe the lies they do because they have been spoken by the Angry One. This is simply not true. What the Angry One is doing is giving *permission* to lie.

The world itself is based on lies. Most won't give up those lies under any circumstance, as they fear losing all.

But holding onto lies is what costs all.

Pair-annoyed

Two lost lovers see one another after years apart. They speak ravenously, devouring moments of eternity.

Then - as if a timer went off - they stand up, concluding their conversation, both agreeing they should have died together long ago.

“What a pity!”

“C’est la mort!”

Threads: Deep Ellum Blues

Sitting in my car on a rainy night in Deep Ellum. I have nowhere to go. Across the street is my hip swank apartment where the cool people live.

It did not make me cool.

So I feel less a fraud here in the street like in the old days of drifting through west Texas towns where life has been frozen for decades.

I thought I could hide among the deadwood, then I thought I could mingle with the tragically hip.

But revelation comes for us all.

Threads: Dogs Of War

Dogs Of War

They came for me in the middle of the night, wearing neon pink uniforms and dildo batons (as cops always do) saying they are "Bad ass bitches whom do as they're told.

"
That's what they told me when I said that they're wrong. I was to be taken away for being different than they are.

A money god bought the power company and turned it off for everyone who did not like him.

Monster mothers applaud their sons' deaths when laughed at and used as cannon fodder to deplete "enemy" munitions.

There's no possible future until the dogs of war are no more. Word.

Threads: Overnight Janitor

The Ballad Of A Shooting Star

A life without love is living a lie.
Like a meteor he streaks across the sky.
But lost in the night he’s left to cry.

Of course, if you’re the overnight janitor nobody gives a damn if you die.

12.12: The Day, Film Review

Highly recommend watching this film with a friend as you will be dying to discuss it afterwards. What a compelling piece of cinema!

Based on the true story of the events following the assassination of President Park in 1979 Korea as a military faction sought to take over the government.

The characterizations are outstanding and the balance of power swings back and forth until the end.

But the side with the most conviction always wins. (See Revolution, Russian)

Threads: Ferrari Film

Ferrari Film Review.

Don't think I've ever seen a movie so lacking in perspective. The director made Ferrari's footnotes the story and the Ferrari story a footnote.

The racing, the building of the Ferrari mystique, Enzo's inner demons: they are all afterthoughts here, apparently needing no exploration.

Instead, we get a guy who'd make a wonderful subject on the Jerry Springer show complete with gasping revelations to daytime housewives of boinking outside his marriage. Yawn.

Thumbs down.

Threads: Farmer Feeling

To grow up on a farm is a timeless dream where the horizon meets the sky at the edge of the universe and life-affirming smells emanate from the dawn of time.

So I wasn’t surprised when I was a small boy my mother squatted down to tell me, “You can reach the stars, you can conquer the world with love. I believe that with every ounce of my being.

Then, after a stern pause, she said, “Just don’t ever tell us how you feel.”

Threads: Inconvenient Fact

“You bastard filth monsters! I can’t BELIEVE you’re acting this way!"

The man was screaming through his jail cell window bars watching the villagers depart the flood plain. Ironically, the man was in jail for denying the floods were coming.

“How can you leave me here to drown and die?”

The few who paid attention to him laughed in disdain.

“See? It’s YOU who are the bad guys, not ME!”

But the inconvenient fact the man left out was his cell door had already been removed.

Threads: You're A Victim!

Used to be hanging out homeless in the park was like an impenetrable force field to keep people away. Not no more.

The times they ain’t a-changing. So folks getting more desperate.

Man with well-rehearsed smile sits down next to me. Says he knows I’m a “good man caught in evil circumstances.” That I’m a “victim unable to face myself.”

His name was Judas and he was running for office.

“Don’t let the OTHER guy betray you,” his smile disappearing. “Or you won’t get voted into Heaven.”
(He tells billionaires they're victims too!)
