Your Love Is Like A Dead Cat

Your love is like a dead cat
Left on my front door step;
I stumble as I'm coming out,
You ask me if I'm upset!

Like a proud, beaming parent
You reiterate your gift;
Keeping both eyes firmly shut
You fail to see the rift.

You say "you'd die" to prove your love,
Your creed for what you're living;
So long you've lived the dying ways
You think death is worth giving.

Mideast lands far from our minds,
With anger we bring killing;
To hear it preached as holy healing
I find to be quite chilling.

It's funny how you say it's life
That your deeds are preserving;
Because secretly within you know
The woeful fate you are deserving.

From where comes human fantasy
Embracing naiveté of war?
Placing strings on your fellow man
Causes him to fight all the more!

Wistfully believe as you wish -
Only the truth do you debate!
Heedless are your reckless words,
Your peace cords sponsor hate.

We justify bombs and bullets
For monsters without reason;
We torpedo the truth
To sanction slaying season.

The wretched look racks your face -
Your solutions do not solve;
A spirit only dissipates
If it does not strive to evolve.

Your dream you blaspheme,
"That's the last thing that I want!";
Then take a numbing pill,
Your hopelessness you flaunt.

Love writes its story with no script,
One must be an honest author;
Only with eyes open can one see
If love is what you offer.

So convinced are you
Your mission is divine!
But you can't fix your own house,
So how can you fix mine?
