The Real Bummer of Obummercare

Putting aside the sheer outrage of stagnating wages, I ask you: what's wrong with this graph? Were I to ask Obama and his supporters the answer is obvious: we need to spend more money on healthcare. Why? Because that's the only "realistic" answer. If only someone would tell reality that!

The business of politics is the business of selling. The truth doesn't need to be sold so what is being sold? Fairy tales. And somehow we've come to the belief that if enough people believe in a fairy tale then that superstition is reality and we can all live happily ever after. Well, it's certainly lovely to think so!

When a patient is sick should we treat the disease or treat the symptoms? We could give him an anesthetic so he doesn't feel the pain. But what does that really do? It allows the disease to progress without the patient feeling anything. Great solution! Of course, at some point even the anesthetic won't help as the pain becomes unmanageable or the patient simply dies. Not much of an answer in the long run, I suppose.

But hey, we're all about the now! And all about what sells! No icky medicine to swallow, just feel no pain. Time to become comfortably dumb. In the minds of many that seems a triumph over the disease, over reality itself. And no reality means no responsibility. Bet I could elected on that! (And what's more important than that?)

But in the case of the A.C.A. we're not even talking of a disease, but a choice. Good news, right? A choice is even easier to change than a disease. Apparently not. It's considered impossible for a human to choose anything but greed therefore greed is the only way  - and boy is that one popular fairy tale! So popular, in fact, we've decided to bet our entire existence on it. Maybe we should vote on that too.

Since all these self-proclaimed "adults in the room" have decreed greed as good (and god) that leaves only one solution for skyrocketing costs. Let's force all the people most unlikely to need healthcare to fund those who do need it! Doesn't matter if you're a janitor or a cab driver or any other poor bastard living from paycheck to paycheck, you better pay up pal! God forbid we reduce costs on the backs of corporations. That just wouldn't be fair! (say the Obamacare "purists")

So on top of decades of stagnating wages we're going to pile on the biggest tax increase in history. And what exactly does that buy us? Certainly not healthcare but rather the opportunity to pay a further deductible in order to apply for a chance at getting healthcare. Yippee! The greedy should never compromise, only the powerless.

There's a reason we are ruled by the one percent and it's because most of us share their mentality. They always say, "I got mine!" not caring how they got it. That's how Obamacare is being sold too. If it benefits you who cares who it hurts! Ain't America great? And don't forget the slight of hand that the government will pay part of the premiums for some so it's free! All one need do is forget how the government is funded. Oh yeah, that's our money to begin with. Oops!

By the time we figure out patrolling maternity wards to sign up "outlaw" babies born without papers it will be too late - we'll have let the disease grow too far. Of course, those in the know planned this all along. It keeps them in the green. Useful idiots in the meantime will praise and hail the "victory" of their own demise. So are we really smarter than economic reality? We've bet our future on it regardless.
